The attack of the new coronavirus has caused huge losses in various industries, and tourism and conferences are the first industries to be challenged. The epidemic is still very serious, leading to anxiety among industry professionals. The purpose of the weekly "Night on the Clouds" program held by SITE China Chapter starting from February 12 is to provide a platform for SITE China members to talk about and share some experiences and ideas. We hope this program can calm their inner anxiety. It is beneficial to everyone's thinking, so as to rationally formulate corporate reduction and survival measures.
On February 12th, "Night on the Clouds" was broadcast live for the first time. Ms. Liu Ping, the founder of China Star Co., Ltd was the moderator and invited four guests in the industry as speakers. Before the opening of the live broadcast, the video of the SITE Global Annual Conference 2019 in Canada was broadcasted, which strongly promoted the SITE and its community. The guest speakers shared their experiences and ideas in responding to emergencies from different perspectives.
Speaker 1: Alicia Yao Hong, Managing Director of IME Consulting Co., Ltd :The live broadcast was first shared by Alicia Yao Hong. She suggested that our SITE members should do three things in the face of the epidemic:1. Stabilize employees and ensure their health. Due to the different psychological status of employees before the epidemic, employees' physical and mental health must be guaranteed. Enterprises should give employees a sense of responsibility, try not to lay off staff but also give employees a sense of crisis. It means that employees and the company are on the same boat, and the enterprise crisis is the employee crisis.2. Reduce unnecessary expenditure costs of enterprises. Make timely adjustments to the market operation plan to ensure the company's office rental, cash flow, and employee salaries, and always maintain confidence to resume production.3. Organize internal training to ensure business development. Train employees to improve their writing and business English abilities for on line promotion and company media blast, and to train them on design and produce bidding proposal content. It is recommended that the company's WeChat meetings be held daily or twice a week during home office. Each employee develops a to-do-list and checks the completion on each meeting.
In the end, she shared a few suggestions for SITE members: "Stay at home is the contribution to the control of the new crown epidemic. Fighting the epidemic is an issue for the whole society. I Believe the government, believe the party, believe the company and believe in your employees. It is recommended that companies should strictly control the cost. Cash control must have a plan for cash flow of at least 6-12 months ready for no business, and stay strong with SITE and it will be spring for all the MICE industry! "
Speaker 2: Lisa Xu, Managing Director, Shanghai Eastar Co., Ltd.
Lisa Xu said that the employees have recently resumed office work. The goal for the company is to hold back their original annual goals. The company must have funds and enough deposit for cash flow. After the company resumes work, the first must to do is to contact the customer and get to know the customer's needs for cancelled or postponed projects or wait and see.
She made a few suggestions for SITE members: First, open the remote office work, and suggested office work needs to divided into daily plans, weekly plans, and monthly plans so that everyone can more clearly understand the recent progress of their work.
Speaker 3: Mr Qingdao Wang, Editor-in-Chief of Meetings Magazine
Mr. Wang Qingdao responded to the problems caused by the new coronavirus epidemic to the MICE industry. The outbreak has a large impact on the service in trade industry, and MICE tourism will bear the brunt, and the income will face a sharp decline. January, February and March is in the outbreak period, April, May and June is in the recovery period. The meeting industry is facing huge challenges. There will be delays and cancellations, but at the same time, we remain optimistic about the rebound after the epidemic. In the second half of the year, the number of MICE events should increase significantly, and problems such as meeting venue booking difficulties and rental price risings may occur.
Predict the impact of the outbreak: due to the slow recovery of incoming and outgoing MICE events of China, incoming and outgoing MICE events will decrease and income will decline. The epidemic situation has also made the employees in the metting and incentive industry have a sense of risk. The use of online tools (management, office, live broadcast) will increase, and it will become a new market and business brought by the epidemic to the meeting and exhibition industry.
Speaker 4: Mr Cheng Zhigang, Vice President of 31st Event
Mr Cheng Zhigang mainly shared from two aspects. First, the measures taken by the 31st Event during the outbreak. The company took stock of cash assets, on receivables and staffing, preparation of the most extreme operating plan preparation for 3-6 months, keeping an eye on the health status of daily team members, timely tracking and feedback, and timely customer contact.
At the same time, when it is found that the business cannot be carried out within a short period of time, the marketing strategy is also adjusted in time. In order to obtain the industry status in a timely manner, a series of questionnaires “Outbreak Period Conference and Exhibition Response Survey Questionnaire” was produced. The survey was organized, and the survey analysis report was staged a Push to provide objective advice to companies in the industry. On the first day of construction, the "Special Topics on Anti-epidemic Situation of the Convention and Exhibition Industry" channel was launched, and a comprehensive professional information platform was established for the convention and exhibition participants. In order to meet the needs of some offline event hosting and association / society management, an online seminar-planning toolkit was launched to accommodate the rapid switch from offline to online. A tool kit for signing out the temperature of the epidemic situation was launched to make preparations for post-epidemic activities to be prepared. For exhibition companies that are unable to conduct business in a timely manner, a large-scale online exhibition and conference implementation plan has been introduced to help them transition smoothly. In addition, some ongoing projects and product releases are still progressing as planned (on the stage of the exhibition business) series of products.
It means that the higher the degree of data, the more people yearn for face-to-face communication. 70% of the effectiveness of information and emotion transmission comes from the body, and the scene atmosphere is also unique. Human emotion, human enlightment, and humane care are the basis of face-to-face communication. Technology development is also to enhance and simulate face-to-face communication scenarios and feelings, such as new technologies and means such as VR / AR / MR.
By the end of the live broadcast, the host Ms Liu Ping, the founder of China Star, concluded that during the SARS epidemic 17 years ago, there was nothing to do, but to stop paying employees. The company has to make sure sufficient cash flow, and it is very necessary to cut revenue and reduce expenditures, so that it can keep the company in good order. To be prepared for the "hard days", whether it is a company or an individual, there is a lot of space for open source and cost reduction.
